How much does a student website cost?

A student website has three kinds of cost: the design and build (paid once), the domain name (renewed every year), and hosting (often free for a simple site). At Northframe, Launch is $49 (student pricing, regularly $99), a one-time price for a custom one-page portfolio.

The three costs

  • Design and build: a one-time cost, whether you pay a designer or spend your own time.
  • Domain name: a yearly renewal paid to a registrar. Prices depend on the registrar and the ending (.com, .dev, .me and so on).
  • Hosting: many hosts have free plans that comfortably run a simple personal site. Paid plans matter once you need more traffic, storage, or features. Running a website without a monthly fee covers what is optional.

What Northframe charges

Launch is $49 (student pricing, regularly $99). It includes 1 custom-designed page, projects and resume sections, basic contact section, 1 revision round, plus what every package has: custom visual design, responsive layout, domain setup help, deployment.

If you need more than one page, Presence is $199 (Founding Client Pricing, regularly $349) and covers up to 3 pages with a contact form and SEO and analytics setup. The web design for students page shows how a student site is planned.

Domain registration and paid third-party services, like premium hosting or email plans, are billed separately where required.

What pushes the price up

  • More pages, or a separate page for every project.
  • Features such as contact forms, galleries, or analytics.
  • Logins, databases, or payments, which turn a website into an application.
  • Extra rounds of changes beyond what was agreed.

Template or custom?

A template builder can be cheaper in cash, but the monthly plan, the template's limits, and the time spent fighting it all count. A custom site costs more upfront and fits your work exactly. Either is a reasonable choice, and the custom website vs Wix or Squarespace guide compares them side by side. What matters most is that the site is clear, current, and on a domain you control.

Common questions

Is the Northframe price one-time or monthly?

One-time. Domain renewal and any paid third-party services are separate and paid to those providers directly, under your own account. The website cost calculator shows the price for your page count and features.
